Adjust Reference Elements

After creating reference elements, you can adjust their dimensions, angles, and related position parameters directly in the image area to match the reference outline with the workpiece's standard dimensions or target profile.

Easson2D provides two main adjustment methods:

  • Drag with the mouse: Suitable for quick adjustments of reference elements.
  • Enter exact values: Suitable for setting reference elements precisely according to drawing dimensions.

Selecting a Reference Element to Adjust

When multiple reference elements exist in the image area, click the reference element you want to modify to select it.

Easson2D sets it as the current reference element, and any subsequent dragging or parameter changes apply to the currently selected element.

Quick Adjustment with the Mouse

When you move the mouse cursor over an adjustable area of a reference element, the cursor changes based on the current operation.

Click and drag the corresponding area to visually modify the reference element.

This method is suitable for:

  • Quickly changing the circle size
  • Adjusting rectangle length or width
  • Rotating a rectangle
  • Changing the arc start and end points
  • Adjusting the two reference lines of an angle
  • Adjusting crosshairs and grid crosshairs

After dragging and releasing the mouse, the reference element is redisplayed with the new parameters.

Entering Exact Parameters

If a reference element needs to be established according to standard dimensions on a drawing, you can enter parameters directly instead of relying entirely on mouse dragging.

For example, the diameter of a circular reference element can be entered directly.

The length unit follows the unit currently set in Easson2D, for example:

  • mm
  • μm
  • inch

Angle parameters are set directly using angle values.

This method is especially suitable for comparison applications that require establishing an accurate standard outline.

Circle

Circular reference elements support:

  • Dragging the circumference to change the diameter
  • Entering the diameter directly

For example, if the drawing requires a hole diameter of 10.000 mm, you can set the circle's diameter to the corresponding value and use that circle as the reference outline for the workpiece hole.

Double Circle

A double circle contains two independent concentric circles.

The diameters of both circles can be adjusted separately:

  • Dragging with the mouse
  • Entering the diameter directly

This allows two circular reference boundaries to be established at the same time.

For example, you can set:

  • Inner circle: 9.95 mm
  • Outer circle: 10.05 mm

forming two reference outlines for observing the positional relationship between the actual workpiece profile and the two boundaries.

Rectangle

Rectangular reference elements can be adjusted in:

  • Length
  • Width
  • Rotation angle

You can drag the rectangle edges to change its size directly, or adjust its orientation through the rotation handle.

If the drawing dimensions are known, you can also enter the length, width, and rotation angle directly.

For example:

  • Length: 20.000 mm
  • Width: 10.000 mm
  • Rotation angle: 30°

This establishes the corresponding rectangular reference outline.

Arc

Arc reference elements support adjusting:

  • Diameter
  • Start angle
  • End angle

You can drag either end of the arc to change its range, or enter the exact diameter and angle parameters directly.

In addition to complete circles, this allows establishing reference arcs that only cover a partial profile of the workpiece.

Angle

An angle reference element consists of two reference lines.

You can drag each reference line separately to change its direction, or set directly:

  • Included angle
  • Start angle
  • End angle

If the included angle is modified directly, Easson2D repositions the two reference lines based on the current angle center.

This is suitable for reference outlines with explicit angle requirements, such as inclined surfaces or V-shaped grooves.

Crosshair

A crosshair can be adjusted in:

  • Position of both directions
  • Rotation angle

It can be adjusted by dragging the corresponding reference lines, or by entering the relevant position and angle parameters directly.

Crosshairs are used to establish center and orientation references.

Grid Crosshair

The grid crosshair can be adjusted by dragging to change the angles between reference lines, or by entering an angle value directly.

It is suitable for observing workpiece profiles or directional deviations in multiple directions at the same time.

Mouse Cursor Hints

To help users identify adjustable areas, Easson2D automatically changes the mouse cursor when it moves over different control areas.

For example:

  • Dimension adjustment areas show a resize cursor indicating the direction
  • Rotation or value input areas show a hand cursor

During actual operation, you can use the cursor to determine what operation the current area supports.

If you only need to establish a reference outline quickly, start by dragging with the mouse to roughly position and size the reference element.

If accurate comparison against a drawing is required, enter the standard dimensions or angles after the rough adjustment.

That is:

Quick mouse adjustment → Enter standard parameters → Complete the reference outline

After adjustment, you can place the actual workpiece into the image area and compare it with the established reference element.
