Template Matching
Overview
Applicable Models
The template matching feature is only available for SP fully automatic series models.
Easson2D's template matching feature is used to re-determine the workpiece position through image features when running a measurement program repeatedly, allowing the original measurement program to continue being used even when the workpiece placement position changes.
Unlike Free Placement, template matching does not require establishing a workpiece coordinate system. Instead, it uses a distinct image feature region as the positioning reference.
Program Recording
When recording the program:
- Open Coordinate > Template Alignment
- In the Vision Area, draw a box around a region with distinct features to use as the template
- After completing template positioning, continue recording subsequent measurement steps in the normal manner
It is recommended to select a position with clear contours, distinct features, and minimal risk of confusion with other areas as the template.
Running the Program
When running the program again, the workpiece can be placed in a different position from when the program was recorded.
When the program reaches the template positioning step, the user re-selects the same feature template in the Vision Area. After template matching is complete, Easson2D adjusts subsequent program steps based on the new template position, so that subsequent measurements are automatically applied to the current workpiece position.
Basic Workflow
- When recording the program, select a feature template in the Vision Area
- After completing template alignment, continue recording other measurement steps
- When running the program next time, the workpiece can be repositioned
- Select the same feature region in the Vision Area
- After template matching is complete, subsequent program steps continue executing based on the new workpiece position
Comparison with Free Placement
| Feature | Positioning Method |
|---|---|
| Free Placement | Positions by re-establishing the workpiece coordinate system |
| Template Matching | Directly uses a feature region in the image as the positioning reference, without requiring a coordinate system |
For workpieces with distinct image features, template matching provides a simpler and faster method for repeated positioning.
