Height Measurement
Laser height measurement in Easson2D measures the height difference between two surfaces.
During measurement, first acquire a laser measurement point on the reference surface, then acquire a second point on the height surface. After the two points are acquired, the software automatically calculates the height difference between the two surfaces and generates a height element.
1. Select Height Measurement
Click:
Laser Measurement → Height Measurement
to enter the laser height measurement state.
2. Measure the Reference Surface
Move the laser head above the reference surface of the workpiece and adjust the Z-axis so that the reference surface enters the effective measurement range of the laser sensor.
Then click in sequence:
Zero Return → Acquire Point
Easson2D records the laser measurement position of the current reference surface.
This position serves as the reference for this height measurement.
3. Measure the Height Surface
Move the laser head to the workpiece surface whose height is to be measured.
Adjust the Z-axis in the same way so that the surface enters the effective measurement range of the laser sensor.
Then click again in sequence:
Zero Return → Acquire Point
The software records the measurement position of the second surface.
4. The Height Result Is Generated Automatically
After the second point is acquired, Easson2D automatically calculates:
the height difference between the height surface and the reference surface
and generates the corresponding height element.
Therefore, the entire measurement can be summarized as:
Zero-return and acquire a point on the reference surface → zero-return and acquire a point on the height surface → calculate the height difference automatically
Basic Workflow
The full laser height measurement workflow is:
Laser Measurement → Height Measurement → Move into the measurement range of the reference surface → Click "Zero Return" → Click "Acquire Point" → Move into the measurement range of the height surface → Click "Zero Return" again → Click "Acquire Point" → A height element is generated automatically
Why Zero Return Is Recommended before Acquiring a Point
For more stable laser height measurement results, it is recommended to perform:
Zero Return
before each point acquisition.
That is:
Move to the target surface → Zero Return → Acquire Point
This allows the laser sensor to re-establish a reference position within the effective range of the current surface before data acquisition.
Therefore, for both the reference surface and the height surface, it is recommended to use the same operation order:
Zero return first, then acquire a point
Usage Recommendations
When performing height measurement, note that:
- Both the reference surface and the height surface must be within the effective laser measurement range
- It is recommended to perform "Zero Return" before each point acquisition
- Acquire the point only after zero return is complete
- After the two point acquisitions, no manual calculation is needed; the software automatically generates the height difference result
If the measurement result is clearly abnormal, first check that correct zero return was completed for both measurements, and that the workpiece surfaces are within the laser's normal detection range.
