Free Placement
Overview
Applicable Models
The free placement feature is only available for SP fully automatic series models.
Easson2D's Free Placement feature allows users to place workpieces in different positions when running a measurement program repeatedly, without having to maintain the exact same placement as when the program was recorded. This feature works by re-establishing the workpiece coordinate system so that subsequent program steps are automatically transformed to the new workpiece position.
Program Recording
When recording a program, first establish the workpiece coordinate system in the normal manner.
After the coordinate system is established, find the corresponding coordinate system step in the program list, right-click and select:
Free Placement > Positioned
Once completed, continue recording the subsequent measurement steps in the normal manner.
Running the Program
When measuring the workpiece again, it can be placed at a different location on the stage.
After the program starts, the user only needs to re-establish the workpiece coordinate system using the same method as when recording the program. Once the new coordinate system is established, all subsequent program steps will automatically apply to the current workpiece coordinate system and continue executing measurements at the new position.
Basic Workflow
- Place the workpiece and establish the coordinate system
- In the program list, right-click the coordinate system step
- Select Free Placement > Positioned
- Continue recording the remaining measurement steps as normal
- When running the program next time, the workpiece can be placed at a different location
- Re-establish the workpiece coordinate system using the same method
- Subsequent measurement steps automatically continue running under the new coordinate system
Use Cases
This feature is particularly suitable for workpieces that cannot be consistently positioned using fixed fixtures. Users do not need to precisely replicate the previous workpiece position. As long as the same workpiece coordinate system can be re-established, the original measurement program can continue to be used, significantly reducing the requirements for repeated clamping and positioning.
