Database Settings and Image Saving

After enabling the "Measurement Database", you can further configure the save location of the database file and decide whether to also save the image area, geometry area, or navigation area images during measurement.

These settings are mainly accessed through:

Database Settings

Set the Database Save Location

Easson2D saves the measurement database as:

MySQLite.db

by default, at the location:

EsBrowser\Machine\MySQLite.db

If you need to save the database to another location, you can change the database path in the database settings.

After the change, Easson2D and EsBrowser use the same database file for writing and viewing data.

About the Database File

MySQLite.db is a standard SQLite 3 database file.

If the database does not exist, the software automatically creates the database and the corresponding data tables; there is no need to create them manually.

New measurement results are continuously appended to the current database, rather than generating a new database file for each measurement.

Saving Measurement Images

In the database settings, you can also choose whether to save measurement images from different areas.

The supported image types include:

  • Image area result images
  • Geometry area images
  • Navigation area images

These image options can be enabled or disabled separately by default.

If you only need to save measurement data and do not need images, you can keep these options disabled to reduce hard disk space usage.

How Images Are Saved

Measurement images are not stored directly inside the SQLite database.

The software saves the images as separate JPEG files, and the database only records the corresponding image information and relationships.

Images are saved by default in a directory such as:

*2D_Data\EsBasic\Year\Month*

This reduces the size of the database file itself and makes it convenient to view or manage the image files separately.

Association between Images and Measurement Data

If image saving is enabled, each measurement record can be associated with the corresponding:

  • Image area image
  • Geometry area image
  • Navigation image

Some measurement information related to the images is also saved, such as:

  • X coordinate
  • Y coordinate
  • Z coordinate
  • Magnification

This information is used to associate the images when viewing measurement records in EsBrowser.

Image Compression Settings

The database settings also let you configure the image size and compression ratio.

For example, you can adjust:

  • Image area image size
  • Geometry area image size
  • Navigation image size
  • JPEG compression ratio

A higher compression ratio usually provides better image quality, but also increases storage usage.

Usage Recommendations

If the main purpose is to integrate the measured values into MES, QMS, or other systems, you can save only the database data without enabling images.

If you need to keep:

  • The measurement scene of the workpiece
  • Geometric measurement results
  • Navigation positions

you can enable the corresponding image saving options according to your actual needs.

Note that images keep accumulating as the number of measurements increases, so pay attention to hard disk space during long-term use.

Basic Setup Workflow

You can configure the settings in the following way:

Enable "Measurement Database" → Click "Database Settings" → Confirm or modify the database path → Choose whether to save image area / geometry area / navigation images → Set the image compression ratio as needed → Confirm

After the setup, subsequent measurement data and the enabled image content are saved automatically according to the current configuration.
