Point-to-Line Distance
Overview
The point-to-line distance feature calculates the perpendicular distance from a point to a line. Select a point element and a line element, and the software will automatically generate the perpendicular foot and output the distance between them.
Steps
Step 1: Click the Function Button
In the Measurement Bar, click the Point-to-Line Distance button.
Step 2: Select a Point and a Line
In the Vision Area or Geometry Area, select a point element and a line element in sequence.
As with two-point line, the endpoint can be a previously measured point element or a feature point of another element.
Step 3: Generate the Result
After selection, the software will automatically:
- Generate the perpendicular foot from the point to the line
- Output the perpendicular distance value
Notes
- Selection order is flexible — you can select the point first or the line first
- The generated perpendicular foot can be used in subsequent element construction and tolerance analysis
