Two-Point Y-Axis
Overview
The two-point Y-axis feature establishes a new workpiece coordinate system using two endpoints. The first selected point becomes the origin, and the second point defines the positive Y-axis direction. The software automatically creates the new coordinate system.
Steps
Step 1: Click the Function Button
In the Measurement Bar, click the Two-Point Y-Axis button.
Step 2: Pick Two Endpoints
In the Vision Area or Geometry Area, pick two endpoints in sequence. Endpoints can be:
- Previously measured point elements
- Feature points of other elements, such as circle centers or line endpoints
Step 3: Generate the Coordinate System
- The first point selected becomes the origin of the new coordinate system
- The second point defines the positive Y-axis direction
- The software automatically generates the new workpiece coordinate system once both points are selected
Step 4: Switch to the New Coordinate System
After the coordinate system is established, click the Work button in the Readout Area to switch the readings to the new coordinate system.
Notes
- The first point determines the origin; the second determines the Y-axis direction — pick positions carefully
- After establishing the coordinate system, click the Work button to switch to the new coordinate system readings
- You can toggle between the absolute and workpiece coordinate systems using the coordinate system switch in the Readout Area
