Distance

The "Distance" function in Easson2D can quickly calculate the distance relationship between two end points or between two existing geometric elements.

This function can directly use existing geometric elements without re-acquiring points from the image.

Opening the Distance Function

In the Easson2D:

Measurement operation area

click:

Distance

to enter the distance construction function.

Then select the two objects for which the distance is to be calculated, one after the other.

Selecting Two Objects

The Distance function can be used to select:

  • Two end points
  • One end point and one geometric element
  • Two geometric elements

After the selection is complete, the software automatically calculates the distance result according to the geometric relationship of the two objects.

Distance between Two End Points

If two end points are selected, the software calculates the straight-line distance between the two points.

This is suitable for:

  • The distance between two feature points
  • The distance between two intersection points
  • The spacing between two constructed points

Distance between Two Elements

You can also directly select two existing geometric elements.

For example:

  • Two lines
  • Two circles
  • A point and a line
  • Other geometric elements that can participate in distance calculation

For two geometric elements with a certain extent, their distance may not be a single value.

In this case, Easson2D outputs:

  • Maximum distance
  • Minimum distance
  • Average distance

Maximum, Minimum, and Average Distance

Minimum distance

represents the distance at the closest position between the two objects.

Maximum distance

represents the distance at the farthest position between the two objects.

Average distance

represents the average result of the overall distance relationship between the two objects.

These three results help you understand the variation in spacing between the two geometric elements more comprehensively.

Usage Example

For example, if two lines have been measured and you need to check the spacing between them.

Steps:

  1. Click "Distance" in the measurement operation area.
  2. Select the two lines one after the other.
  3. Complete the selection.
  4. View the maximum, minimum, and average distance generated by the software.

If the spacing between the two lines is not completely consistent, the maximum, minimum, and average distance let you understand the overall variation more directly.

Suitable Scenarios

The Distance function can be used to:

  • Measure the distance between two feature points
  • Check the spacing between two edges
  • Compare the distance between two geometric elements
  • Check spacing variation
  • View maximum, minimum, and average spacing

In short:

Click "Distance" in the measurement operation area and select two objects to calculate the distance between them; for geometric elements, you can also obtain the maximum, minimum, and average distance.
