Point-Circle Tangent
Overview
The point-circle tangent feature generates two tangent lines from a point to a circle. After selecting a point element and a circle element, the software automatically computes and generates the two tangent lines as line elements.
Important
The selected point must be a point element. Feature points of other elements (such as circle centers or intersection points) cannot be used in place of a point element.
Steps
Step 1: Click the Function Button
In the Measurement Bar, click the Point-Circle Tangent button.
Step 2: Select a Point and a Circle
In the Vision Area or Geometry Area, select a point element and a circle element in sequence.
Step 3: Generate the Tangent Lines
After selection, the software will automatically calculate and generate the two tangent lines from the point to the circle as two line elements.
Notes
- A point element must be used; feature points such as points on a circle cannot be used as a substitute
- Selection order is flexible — you can select the point first or the circle first
- If the point is inside the circle, the tangent lines cannot be generated
- The two generated tangent lines can be used in subsequent element construction and tolerance analysis
