Laser-Vision Offset Calibration
Easson2D supports both vision measurement and laser measurement. Because the main measurement camera and the laser head are installed at different physical positions on the machine, laser-vision offset calibration must be performed before using the two measurement methods together.
After calibration, the software can correctly establish the correspondence between vision measurement positions and laser measurement positions.
Laser-vision calibration is a machine setup operation and requires entering the machine supplier authorization password first.
1. Establish a Reference Point with Vision
First, place a workpiece with a distinctive feature on the worktable.
Using the vision measurement function, select an easily identifiable feature position on the workpiece and generate a point element.
For example, generate:
P1
The subsequent laser calibration will use this point element as the position reference.
2. Move the Laser Head to the Same Feature Position
Move the machine so that the laser head is aimed at the same actual feature point that was measured with the vision function.
Adjust the machine position so that the laser can detect the position normally.
Then click:
Zero Return
so that the laser reaches a suitable measurement distance at the current feature position.
At this point, confirm that:
The P1 obtained from the vision measurement and the point the laser is currently aimed at are the same actual position on the workpiece.
3. Open the Laser-Vision Offset Calibration
Click:
Laser Measurement → Calibrate Laser-Vision Offset
to enter the laser-vision offset calibration function.
4. Select the Reference Point Element
In the selection window that appears, select the point element established earlier through vision measurement.
For example:
P1
This point represents the reference position determined by the main measurement camera.
5. Complete the Calibration
After confirming that the selected point element is correct, click:
OK
Easson2D calculates the positional offset between the laser and the vision system based on:
- The reference point position obtained from the vision measurement
- The position corresponding to the current laser head
After calibration, the software displays:
Calibration successful
Basic Workflow
Laser-vision calibration can be summarized as:
Enter the supplier authorization password → Generate reference point element P1 on the workpiece with vision → Move the laser head to aim at the same actual feature point → Click "Zero Return" to adjust to a suitable measurement distance → Laser Measurement → Calibrate Laser-Vision Offset → Select reference point P1 → Click OK → Calibration successful message appears
Calibration Notes
When performing laser-vision offset calibration, note that:
- The vision reference point and the laser aimed position must be the same actual feature point
- The reference feature should be clear and easy to relocate
- After aiming the laser at the reference point, first use "Zero Return" to adjust to the normal measurement position
- Confirm that the point element number selected is correct
- Do not move the workpiece during calibration
If you select the wrong point element, or if the laser is not aimed at the same feature position used for the vision measurement, perform the calibration again.
Purpose of Calibration
Laser-vision offset calibration establishes the correct correspondence between:
Main vision measurement position ↔ Laser measurement position
After calibration, the vision and laser measurement methods can be used together in the same machine coordinate system.
