Probe Line Measurement

Easson2D supports collecting multiple contact points on a workpiece surface with the probe and generating a line element from the collected measurement points.

The following uses Horizontal Line Measurement as an example to demonstrate the operation.

1. Select Horizontal Line Measurement

Click:

Probe Measurement → Horizontal Line Measurement

to enter the horizontal line measurement mode.

Horizontal line measurement does not require setting a locating plane/axis or element position. You can directly probe points on the workpiece.

2. Probe Points

Move the probe to the line position to be measured.

Along the linear feature of the workpiece, move the probe to contact the workpiece and capture points sequentially.

Each time the probe is triggered, Easson2D records a measurement point.

At least two measurement points are required to generate a line. Capturing more points is recommended for a more stable line fit.

It is recommended to spread the measurement points across different positions on the measured line to avoid concentrating all points within a very small range.

3. Complete the Measurement and Generate a Horizontal Line

After capturing the required probe points, right-click in the:

geometry area or image area

to end the current point capture operation.

Easson2D calculates the line from the collected probe measurement points and automatically generates the corresponding horizontal line element.

Basic Workflow

Horizontal line measurement can be summarized as:

Probe Measurement → Horizontal Line Measurement → Move the probe over the workpiece and capture points continuously → Right-click in the geometry area or image area → A horizontal line element is automatically generated

Measurement Recommendations

For more stable line measurement results, it is recommended to:

  • Capture points at different positions along the line
  • Increase the distribution range between measurement points where possible
  • Avoid rounded corners, burrs, or obviously abnormal positions
  • Make sure all measurement points belong to the same measured line

After the horizontal line is generated, you can continue using this element for distance, angle, and other geometric relationship measurements.
