Calibrate the Navigation Camera
The first time you use the smart navigation feature, the navigation camera must be calibrated.
The purpose of calibration is to establish the correspondence between navigation camera image positions and the device's actual XY positions. After calibration, the software can correctly calculate where the device should move based on the position you click in the navigation image.
Navigation camera calibration is a device setup operation and requires obtaining the equipment vendor permissions first.
1. Open the Navigation Feature
After obtaining the equipment vendor permissions, click in the measurement operation area:
Navigation
to open the smart navigation window.
At this point you can see both the wide-field navigation camera image and the main measurement camera image area.
2. Set Mark 1
In the navigation window, click:
Mark 1
Then select a clear, easily identifiable feature point in the navigation image.
Recommended choices:
- Corners
- Hole centers
- Line intersections
- Obvious contour intersections
- Other positions that are easy to find again in the main image
After selection, the software records the position of the feature point in the navigation image.
3. Set Mark 2
Click:
Mark 2
Then select another obvious feature point in the navigation image.
The second feature point should be reasonably far from the first, avoiding two points that are too close together.
This makes the correspondence between the navigation image and the device's actual positions more stable.
4. Click the Corresponding Feature Points in the Main Image Area
After setting the two marks in the navigation image, you need to tell Easson2D where these two positions correspond in the main measurement camera.
During this operation, click again:
Mark 1
Then find the same actual feature corresponding to the previous Mark 1 in the main image area and click that feature point.
Next, click:
Mark 2
Then find the actual feature corresponding to Mark 2 in the main image area and click it.
In other words, two one-to-one corresponding positions need to be established:
Navigation image Mark 1 ↔ Main image feature 1
Navigation image Mark 2 ↔ Main image feature 2
5. Complete Positioning
After both mark correspondences are set, click in the navigation window:
Position
Easson2D establishes the relationship between the navigation camera image and the device's XY movement based on these two sets of corresponding positions.
After completion, the navigation camera is ready for subsequent navigation positioning.
Calibration Workflow
The entire calibration process can be summarized as:
Open the navigation feature → Mark 1: select a feature point in the navigation image → Mark 2: select another feature point in the navigation image → Mark 1: click the corresponding feature in the main image area → Mark 2: click the corresponding feature in the main image area → Click "Position" to complete calibration
Tips for Selecting Feature Points
For more stable navigation results, it is recommended to select:
- Features with clear edges
- Positions that are easy to find again
- Two feature points that are far apart
- Positions that remain recognizable despite reflections or lighting changes
Avoid:
- Blurred edges
- Large areas with no obvious features
- Two marks that are very close together
- Repeating patterns that are easy to confuse
When to Recalibrate
If the installation position of the navigation camera changes, or the navigation image shows obvious deviation from the device's actual position, it is recommended to recalibrate the navigation camera.
After recalibration, check whether navigation positioning can accurately move to the target area the user clicked.
