Laser Calibration
Before using the laser measurement function for the first time, laser reading ratio calibration must be performed.
The purpose of calibration is to establish the correct correspondence between the machine Z-axis position and the laser sensor readings. After completing the calibration and restarting Easson2D, the laser measurement module can properly perform zero return and subsequent measurement operations.
Laser calibration is a machine debugging operation that must be performed in the supplier debugging module.
1. Open the Supplier Debugging Module
Click:
Help → About Easson2D
Right-click in the "About Easson2D" window and enter:
debug_sdkto open the supplier debugging module.
2. Open the Laser Reading Ratio Settings
After entering the supplier debugging module, select:
Controller Basic Operations → Laser Reading Ratio Settings
to enter the laser calibration interface.
3. Place the Workpiece under the Laser Head
Place a workpiece or a target surface for calibration under the laser head.
Move the machine Z-axis so that the laser probe enters the normal detection range.
When the probe shows a green indicator light, the current target is at a detection position suitable for calibration.
4. Select Calibration Positions within the Green Detection Range
Within the effective range where the laser probe stays green, select at least 3 different Z-axis positions for calibration.
It is recommended to distribute these calibration positions at different locations within the green detection range, rather than concentrating them at very close heights.
5. Enter the First Laser Reading
Move the Z-axis to the first calibration position.
Read the value displayed on the laser sensor LCD and enter it into the laser reading ratio settings.
After finishing, move the Z-axis to the next calibration position.
6. Continue Collecting Calibration Points
At the new Z-axis position, read the laser LCD value again and enter the corresponding reading.
Repeat:
Move the Z-axis → read the laser LCD → enter the reading
Complete at least:
3 calibration points
For example:
Calibration point 1 → enter the laser readingCalibration point 2 → enter the laser readingCalibration point 3 → enter the laser reading
You can add more calibration points if needed.
7. Apply the Settings
After completing at least 3 calibration points, click:
Apply Settings
to save the current laser reading ratio calibration result.
Then close and restart Easson2D so that the new calibration parameters take effect.
8. Check Laser Zero Return
After restarting the software, open:
Laser Measurement
to enter the laser point acquisition module.
Then perform:
Zero Return
If the calibration is correct, the laser measurement module should complete the zero return operation successfully.
Basic Calibration Workflow
Laser calibration can be summarized as:
Help → About Easson2D → Right-click and enter debug_sdk → Controller Basic Operations → Laser Reading Ratio Settings → Place the workpiece under the laser head → Move the Z-axis until the probe enters the green range → Select the first position and enter the laser LCD reading → Move to the 2nd, 3rd... positions and continue entering readings → Complete at least 3 calibration points → Click "Apply Settings" → Restart Easson2D → Enter Laser Measurement and check zero return
Laser Detection Range
Before performing laser zero return, make sure there is a detectable workpiece surface under the laser head and that the target is within the sensor's effective detection range.
You can judge the current state from the probe indicator light:
- Green: within the normal detection range and suitable for calibration.
- Orange: still within the detectable range and can be used for zero return.
- Red: beyond the detection range.
Therefore, when performing zero return, the laser probe should show:
Orange or green
If it shows red, first move the Z-axis or adjust the workpiece position so that the target re-enters the effective detection range, then perform zero return.
Notes
When performing laser calibration, note that:
- Do not randomly change the measured target during calibration.
- Calibration points must be within the probe's green detection range.
- Collect at least 3 calibration points at different positions.
- Read and enter the corresponding laser LCD value at each position.
- Restart Easson2D after clicking "Apply Settings".
- When performing laser zero return, there must be a workpiece surface within the effective detection range under the probe.
If zero return cannot be completed properly, first check the current probe indicator light status and whether the laser reading ratio calibration was saved correctly.
