SPC Files and Excel Output

Easson2D SPC supports saving the current statistics as an SPC file, as well as sending the currently viewed analysis results to Excel.

The SPC file is mainly used to save and continue analyzing historical measurement data, while the Excel output is suitable for creating inspection records or further organizing statistical results.

SPC File

SPC data can be saved as:

an .e2c file

This file mainly saves:

  • The SPC control items
  • The standard values and tolerance information
  • The measured sample data
  • SPC settings such as the current sample size

The SPC file is independent of the Easson2D measurement program file.

This can be simply understood as:

  • Easson2D program file: saves how to measure
  • SPC .e2c file: saves the SPC measurement data already obtained

Creating a New SPC File

Through:

File → New

you can create a new SPC data file.

If the current file contains unsaved changes, the software first asks whether to save the existing data.

Opening an SPC File

Through:

File → Open

you can open a previously saved .e2c file.

After opening an old file, you can continue running Easson2D measurement programs, and the newly generated sample data is appended to the existing SPC data.

Therefore, the SPC data of the same product batch can be accumulated across multiple measurement sessions.

Saving and Save As

Through:

File → Save

you can save the current SPC data.

If you want to save it as a new file, you can use:

File → Save As

It is recommended to use easily recognizable file names based on the product, batch, or measurement date, so that the files can be reopened and reviewed later.

Output Format

Through:

Options → Output Format

you can select the statistical information to display and output in the sample list.

The available options include:

  • Standard value
  • Upper tolerance
  • Lower tolerance
  • Mean
  • Maximum
  • Minimum
  • Range
  • CPK

These settings affect the display content of the sample list and also affect the corresponding Excel output.

Sending to Excel

Click:

Send to Excel

in the toolbar to send the currently viewed SPC data to Microsoft Excel.

Note that:

Excel outputs the currently selected control item and the SPC view currently being viewed.

For example, if "Circle 1 diameter" is currently selected and the simple analysis chart is being viewed, then what is sent to Excel is the simple analysis result of "Circle 1 diameter".

Excel Output of Different Views

Depending on the current view, the Excel output differs.

Sample List and Group List

Mainly outputs table-formatted data, including measured values and related statistical information.

Simple Analysis Chart

Outputs the statistics of the current item and includes the analysis chart in the Excel file.

SPC Control Charts

Outputs:

  • The current control chart
  • Related statistical parameters
  • Grouped or detail measurement data

Therefore, before sending to Excel, it is recommended to first select the control item and the analysis view to output.

Saving after the Excel Output

After clicking "Send to Excel", the software automatically opens Microsoft Excel and generates the corresponding content.

SPC does not automatically save the Excel file for you.

After the output, you can perform the following operations in Excel as needed:

  • Save
  • Save As
  • Adjust the layout
  • Print
  • Add other notes

If Microsoft Excel is not installed on the computer, this output function cannot be used normally.

After completing the SPC measurement of a batch of workpieces, you can organize the results in the following order:

Save the .e2c SPC file → Select the control item to view → Switch to the list or control chart to output → Set the output format as needed → Click "Send to Excel" → Save the final report in Excel

This keeps the complete original SPC data and allows you to organize the needed statistical results into an Excel file for reporting, archiving, or sending to customers.
